The role of the manager in an evolving corporate world
Being a manager no longer solely means being a leader and a sound supervisor. Today’s successful managers have developed a real talent for anticipation, despite the context and the measured risk of failure. Their primary strength, however, is undoubtedly their capacity to surround themselves by people they can rely on to carry out their strategy. The ability to envision and build the ideal organizational structure, by trusting your co-workers, helping them advance, training them, hiring internally or externally the driving elements of the company’s growth, and accepting the notion that power can be shared among different levels of hierarchy.
There is no such thing as a single type “good manager”; some qualities and skills, however, are required. Oftentimes, managers owe their success to their team, the circumstances, their deep motivation and their own personality.
