Marketing & Advertising

The Internet has increased the number of points of contact with customers, which completely disrupted the playing field in marketing and advertising. Many agencies took this opportunity to specialize in digital marketing or online advertising. New functions emerged, such as Community Manager, Social Media Manager, Web Marketing Manager or UX Designer. While marketing functions are primarily held within a company or in research firms, advertising is mostly performed in an agency or on-site. In France, the advertising sector accounts for 70,800 employees in 18,100 agencies and 23,100 employees working on 3,300 sites (according to INSEE). These jobs are mostly concentrated in the Paris region.

Connected profiles

Inherently connected, marketing and advertising professions require a variety of skills, especially for manager positions: digital management, strategic planning, social media, mobile, or a multi-channel expertise for marketing. Most candidates have a business school, university or political science background with a major in Marketing. Some come from specialized advertising schools. The most creative profiles usually have an art or design training. Research institutes hire statisticians and social science graduates.

Marketing departments are full of Product Managers and Market Researchers and are on the lookout for pure players from the digital sphere.

There are many opportunities in the B2B sector and in the service industry. Advertising agencies are made up of more business profiles than creative ones.
